Build the Community Center
A Place For Connection
Our current facilities limit our connections with one another. All-school gatherings only take place at the beginning and end of year when the weather is warm enough to do so. This community should have a place where we can listen, learn, and celebrate together and where big and small moments can be recognized across all constituent groups and ages.
The Community Center is a big win for athletics, where competition is valued, personal growth is embraced, physical activity sets the pace and student wellness is prioritized. It will also serve as the new center for student dining, providing our community with much needed indoor space for students and faculty to come together. Most importantly, it is only within this space that the school can meet as one, bringing together over 1,300 people including students across the divisions, employees, families, and alumni.
A Big win for athletics
Our venues have not kept pace with the needs of our student-athletes; they are being used morning and night to meet demand. This new Community Center will be a game-changer for the school and every student who participates in athletics.
Within this 37,000 square-foot facility, there will be a state-of-the-art gym, a fitness and treatment room room, athletic and coaching offices, multi-purpose rooms for teams and classes, wellness studio, generous lobby and social spaces including dedicated space for alumni and the history of Catlin Gabel. The gym floor will accommodate 800-plus spectators for sporting events, bringing families and visitors alike to the campus. And it will help us remain competitive in attracting the best coaches and student-athletes to the school. This new venue will also allow our longstanding no-cut policy to remain in place and accommodate future enrollment growth.
A Haven for Wellness
The research is resoundingly clear: school wellness programs improve health outcomes, reduce high-risk behaviors, and enhance academic performance. A new Community Center allows Catlin Gabel to introduce a more comprehensive suite of wellness programs across the divisions.
There will be multi-use learning spaces for teaching wellness, life skills, and self care to inspire healthy decision-making, as well as spaces for exercise and movement—from yoga and dance to meditation. The exterior of the building will feature terraces and seating to provide areas for outdoor learning, small-scale gatherings, and quiet contemplation. Taken together, this Community Center will be an extraordinary setting in which to reset minds and bodies.
Help us break ground on the community center.
